Marck's Dramatic Affiliations

  • Marck is a member of the Ilminster Entertainments Society for whom he last performed to critical acclaim and recognition as "Willy Loman" in the "Death of a Salesman". Norman Campbell directed.
  • Marck is a member of a professional troupe called the "Wessex Actors Company"
  • Marck is an associate of a the Gas Monkey Theatre Company. He also created and maintains the web site.
  • Marck has also performed with the Brewers Troupe company who frequent the Ilminster Warehouse Theatre
  • Marck is a previous member of the Staple Diet Theatre Company with whom he last appeared in their October / November 2002 production of "The Process", written by Graham Harvey and directed by Helen Charles.
  • Marck is a lapsed member of the Taunton Thespians, with whom he last played the part of Charles Ross in an original one act play reading "A Matter of Time" at "The Place" in Taunton. In 1997, he played the part of Reverend Hale in their stunning production of Arthur Miller's "The Crucible" both at "The Place" - the Thespians' very own performance venue and rehearsal studios - and at The Brewhouse, Taunton's prestige theatre and arts centre.
  • Marck has also performed with Somerset Operatic, playing the much sought after role of Fagin in their production of Oliver in summer 1996.

Most recent appearances

  • In June 2008, Marck got to play one of the most epic roles in modern theatre. "Willy Loman" in "Death of a Salesman" by Arthur Miller for IES. This performance won Marck the "Best Actor 2008" award from the Somerset Fellowship of Drama. Norman Campbell directed.

  • The smaller part of "Mr Boo" in "The Rise and Fall of Little Voice" for IES in March 2007. Phil Wells directed.

  • Marck played the "Narator" in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" for IES at the Warehouse Theatre, December 2007. Phil Wells directed.

  • The title role in "Scrooge" for Ilminster Entertainments Society at the Ilminster Warehouse Theatre, December 2005. Phil Wells directed.

  • Educating Rita. What a tour de force. The team that very ably put on a chilling rendition of Steven King's "Misery" in 2003 came together again to give their all to Willie Russell's "Educating Rita". Teresa Ravenscroft excelled herself and Marck and Teresa's magical stage chemistry worked its charm all over again. This was a faithful portrayal of a very wordy script with strong performances from the cast, crew and technical team. I veritable triumph. The audiences are still reeling!
  • Marck played the part of "Lion", in the 2004 IES christmas show "The Wizard of Oz". This was performed in the Ilminster Warehouse theatre and opened on Jan 15th, running from Thursday to Saturday (2 shows) for two weeks.

  • Marck performed for the Wessex Actors in 6 christmas shows, five of "Dickens at Christmas" and one "Xmas through the ages"

    These shows form a part of WACs "Community Chest" productions for the christmas season 2003, performed at various locations around the Wessex region to great reception.

  • Marck played the wonderful role of "Willie", in Neil Simon's New York comedy "The Sunshine Boys". This was performed in the Ilminster Warehouse theatre from September 10th to 13th 2003.
  • Marck played the part of "Paul Sheldon", the writer, in Simon Moore's stage adaptation of Stephen King's thriller "Misery". This was performed at the Ilminster Warehouse theatre from June 18th to June 21st 2003.

    The part of Annie Wilkes was played by Teresa Ravenscroft, who won "Best Actress" in the "Phoebe Rees" awards for her performance

    "Misery" was a Brewers Troupe production directed by Phil Wells, who won "Best Director" in the "Phoebe Rees" awards for this production.
  • Marck performed the part of "Guiteau", one of the Assassins in Stephen Sondheim's off-beat musical "Assassins". This was performed in the Ilminster Warehouse theatre in early May 2003.
    Assassins was directed by Michael Paine with musical direction by Jean Hughes. Stage management by Jane Brown
  • Marck appeared in the January 2003 Ilminster pantomime for two weeks in January 2003 He played the part of Dame Daffodil Dalrymple. He was also responsible for the musical direction of this show.
  • "Xmas Carol" by Stebbings and Smith, a Wessex Actors show toured in Nov/Dec/Jan playing 17 dates up and down the 5 counties of Wessex. Marck played the part of Bob Cratchit, Ghost of Xmas Past, Mr O'Flynn the lodger and various ghosts. Marck also created the backing tracks to accompany the original songs in this show.
  • Marck played the part of "Fritz Haber" in a four handed original play about the man written by Graham Harvey. "The Process" was performed at the Tachii-Morris Arts Centre, Monkton Heathfield School, Taunton, opening on Thursday 31st October (Halloween!) and closing on Friday 1st November. How's that for a quickie!

  • "Dead Woman's Ditch" tour (part 2) with Wessex actors, 8 dates in various venues around the West Country.
  • A small part in a film, working name "The Couch", being made by an amateur film maker - Chris Jarvis - intended to be shown around the various "new film maker" festivals both nationally and internationally.
  • Wessex Actors have been performing "Dead Woman's Ditch" in March and April. Marck wrote 6 original songs for the show and also appeared in the production, playing several small parts and also accompanying the live performance of the songs on the guitar. Here are some photos of some of the action taken during rehearsals.
  • Marck played the part of "Jerry Vernon" in a production of "Love Songs For Shopkeepers" by Tim Firth. Marck also arranged and recorded all of the backing music, jingles and incidental sound effects for the show. This was an amateur premiere of a piece first performed in 1998 at the Stephen Joseph Theatre in the Round with music by John Pattison.
  • Marck appeared in, of all things, a C of E training video made by the Wessex Actors, playing the role of a priest who is becoming concerned at the nature and quantity of the gifts he is getting from his parishioners.
  • Marck appeared in the part of "Hart" in an IES production of "Cold" by Les Clarke for the 2002 original one act play festival held in Ilminster on February 9th. The play was being directed by Rod Hancox and also featured Norman Campbell playing "Smithers", the lead part, coming out of early retirement for this one off special appearance.
    Marck won the Runner up Best Actor award in the festival for his performance.
  • Marck handled the Musical Direction and guitar for the 2002 Ilminster pantomime "Treasure Island" (Jan 16th to Jan 2th) with help from his old friend Jeremy Riches on keyboards and featuring the 14 year old George Wilson on drums - and very well he played too!
  • Three parts in Timberlake Wertenberger's "Our Country's Good" - those of Harry Brewer, John Arscott and Captain Jeremy Campbell. The play was presented at Ilminster's warehouse theatre from 28th November to 1st December 2001.
  • "Charles" in the home grown one act play "A matter of time" for Taunton Thespians at The Place in Taunton which ran on the 5th and 6th October 2001
  • Multiple roles in a special review entitled "The Real Millennium Show" for Ilminster Entertainments Society at the Ilminster Warehouse Theatre in January 2001 from the 24th to the 27th.
  • Part of the touring, two handed Christmas Community Chest project for the Wessex Actors Company entitled "Christmas through the ages" and the three handed "Dickens at Christmas"
  • Clinton Preminger Junior in "Nude With Violin" for Taunton Thespians at the Brewhouse Theatre in Taunton which ran from 7th to 11th November 2000
  • Kevin in "Thanks a Lot Elton"for Taunton Thespians in the SFD Original One Act Play Competition 2000
    Marck won the Best Actor award in the festival for his performance as Kevin in the production.
  • Also part of the 3 handed "Dickens at Christmas" from the Wessex Actors portfolio
  • George Riley in "Enter a Free Man" by Tom Stoppard, Ilminster Entertainments Society's September 1999 production directed by Norman Campbell
  • In 1998, Marck also played the part of 'The Ghost of Jacob Marley' in "A Christmas Carol", a new adaptation of the Dickens classic tale by Paul Stebbings and Phil Smith. This was a production for the Wessex Actors and played 10 performances to well attended and appreciative houses.

  • Nominated as best actor for his appearance as Clifford Anderson in "Ira Levin's Deathtrap" in the Somerset Fellowship Of Drama 1996 Phoebe Rees Trophy. "Deathtrap" itself won IES the coveted Phoebe Rees Trophy as best production and also won the best stage management award for the society.
